Prosperous Parenting

About Prosperous Parenting...

This course is designed to provide real world approaches for positive parenting in the midst of the often rugged realities of unplanned scenarios and poverty stricken environments. The course curriculum is designed to cater to the unique needs, challenges and strengths of urban communities.

These sessions provide participants information on how to implement a home system and an environment that decreases stress, allocates time for important parenting moments and ways to reverse the impact of adverse childhood experiences. (ACEs)

Course Structure

Prosperous Parenting is an 8 week series, each session is self guided and takes roughly 45-60 minutes to complete.

This course was created as an integrated curriculum which includes independent reading, supporting material, tools for implementation of presented topics and parent testimonials.

Holistic Family Approach

This series addresses the factors of parenting with a holistic approach to problem solving and parental assessment. There are many components to a parenting that can either make the job easier or more challenging. We dive a little deeper into those factors and how those things impact the way we parent.

Dismantling Dysfunction

One of the hardest things to do is to break away from the dysfunctional habits and actions we have grown accustomed to. These fundamentals are often learned or inherited from our own upbringing as parents from when we were children. This series dives into some of those unspoken generational parenting patterns that we operate under. We identify these norms and whether they are healthy or unhealthy parenting habits.

Home Structure

Many times, we don't recognize the impact of our home environment on our mental health. Areas of clutter, discomfort and chaos can often lead to shorter patience and frustration which inevitably impacts how we parent. This series assists parents with a formula for creating a home environment that invites calm, alleviates unnecessary stress and encourages patient parenting.

About the Instructor

This course was created by birth doula, homeschool coach and community health worker, Destiny Brown. Destiny is a mother of 5, has worked extensively in community advocacy, fetal and maternal health and managed in home childcare locations for over 8 years.

This course was created as an alternative to many of the parent education courses that - although well intended, many times lack an understanding of the unique needs and challenges associated with parenting in poverty or parenting for families prone to adverse childhood experiences.
